What we do
ALC Systems is a start-up based in the south east of Ireland and founded with the aim of supporting individuals and companies looking to realise projects that involve some form of embedded technology.
Recent years have seen an massive growth in this sector, with new and exciting processors and sensors appearing every week.
We specialise in products based on the Nordic Semiconductor’s range of low-power processors, offering many variants for applications from home automation to wearable devices.
We can help you find the skill set that you require
Taking an idea from a few notes to a finished product requires an enormous range of skills. Here are just a few:
- Fluency in a language such as C/C++ or Python.
- Knowledge of common communication protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, USB, USB-PD, I2C, SPI and OneWire.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturers datasheets including application examples.
- Represent a design as a schematic.
- Use a schematic to create a printed circuit board layout involving multiple layers, impedance matching, differential pairs etc.
- Organise manufacture of your design and answer questions from the fabricator.
- Assemble a prototype design involving hand soldering using a microscope or use of a prototype oven.
- Test the design using appropriate equipment such as an electrical load, spectrum analyser or vector network analyser.
- Awareness of appropriate regulatory standards and required testing to ensure compliance.
- Sourcing of a suitable enclosure for your design.
- Arrange manufacture of the product.
- Create a logistic infrastructure to package and distribute your finished product.
- Ensure aftersales support, returns and repairs are provided.
If you are working alone, you can see that even for a modest project, many hours of work are involved. Even if you are a company, you may wish to outsource some of the above steps. We can help with any of the above aspects either directly or through feedback gained in developing our own products.
